The Anniversary Event concerned the Marking of the Historic Perennial Plane Tree of "Giannias"

The Cultural & Environmental Association of Drosia Tritaia "Oi Gianniades" (former Volunteer Group of Friends of Drosia), and the President of the local Community publicly thank the Municipality of Erymanthos and the Institute of Culture of Messinia for the excellent organization of the Anniversary Event for the Marking of the Historic Perennial Plane Tree of "GIANNIAS" (the first marking of a perennial tree in an area of the European network "Natura 2000"), which took place on September 8, 2021 in the morning, with a large participation of fellow villagers, friends of the village, and officials.

The Cultural & Environmental Association of Drosia Tritaia "Giannades" was responsible for the co-organization of the event, which took place in the framework of the program "Network of Ancient Trees of the Revolution of '21" of the "Institute of Culture of Messinia", which is under the auspices of the "Greece 2021" Committee, in the presence of the founder of the "Institute of Culture of Messinia" Demosthenes Kordos.

The Anniversary marking ended with great solemnity, where the Mayor referred extensively to the importance of the inscription of the Historic Plane Tree of "GIANNIAS" in the "Network of Perennial Trees" related to the Revolution of '21 and its current marking, as under its shadow our own hero, the fighter "GIANNIAS", who was finally killed by the Turks in 1805, acted pre-racing.

The Founder of the Institute of Culture of Messinia Demosthenes Kordos referred to the historicity of the monumental tree, which has
witness the pre-Revolution, the dramatic events that took place under its shadow. The President of the Special Standing Committee on the Environment of the Parliament and MP of the Prefecture of Ilia, Mrs. Dionysia Avgerinopoulou, sent her wishes for her success
Event. The Special Standing Committee on the Environment of the Parliament devoted two special meetings to the recording, promotion and protection of the Centenarian Trees of the Revolution of '21 and submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Environment & Energy for the protection of these Historic Trees as Historical "Natural Monuments".

The unveiling of the anniversary metal plaque, created by the acclaimed artist Joanna Kordo who lives in Melbourne, Australia, was unveiled by the Mayor of Erymanthos, Theodoros Baris, and the founder of the Institute of Culture of Messinia, Demosthenes Kordos. On behalf of the Association of Drosia Tritaia greeted the President and the Secretary, Vasilis Dimitropoulos and Dimitrios Dimitropoulos respectively.

They also honored with their presence the event:
The President of the Board of Directors of the Municipality of Erymanthos Mr. Kourachanis Georgios, the Deputy Mayor. Mr. Papagiannopoulos Elias, the Municipal Councilor Mr. Kanellopoulos Diamantis. The Vice-President of the Regional Council, Mr. Dimitrios Drivilas who also addressed the event, Mr. Dimitrios Barbounis (associate of the Deputy Regional Governor Fokion Zaimis). The former Director of the Health Center of Chalandritsa Mr. Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, members of the Association for the Protection of Health & Environment of the Area of K. Y. Chalandritsa, the Association of Blood Donors of Chalandritsa, the Fire Brigade and the priest of the Church of the village Father Christos.
