Drosia: Commemoration event for "GIANNIADES"

Last Saturday 06-07-2024 in Drosia Tritaia, the Cultural & Environmental Association "Gianniades" co-organized with the Municipality of Erymanthos, the Local Community of Drosia, the Region of Western Greece. Greece and sponsored by the Intercity Bus Station of Achaia Prefecture, the commemorative event for the fighters, our own heroes on the subject: "Factors that led to the Revolution of 1821 – Revolutionary Movements "GIANNIADES"
Apart from the large number of fellow villagers, the event was attended by the Municipality of Erymanthos: the Mayor Mr. Theodoros Baris, the Municipal Councilors Mr. Ilias Papagiannopoulos, Mrs. Eleni Christodoulopoulou, from the major opposition Mr. Panagiotis Zacharopoulos. From the local community, the president Mr. Dimitrios Zorlas and Father Charalambos, vicar of the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary of Ovria, as representative of our Eminence Metropolitan.
The keynote speaker at the event was the former Mayor of Lassion in the Prefecture of Ilia, Mr. Kleanthis Papadopoulos, where he vividly developed the pre and post-revolutionary action of the heroes of 1821, the legendary fighters "Gianniades", their great contribution to the liberation struggle of our Nation.
The Mayor Mr. Theodoros Baris referred to the great struggle of the "Gianniades" and stressed the necessity for the organization of such events in the villages and stated the need to build a statue for the "Gianniades" in Drosia.
The President Mr. Vasilis Dimitropoulos presented the new logo of the Association, "portrait of the two Gianniades", the latest and rich actions where, despite the difficulties, he implements them. He also informed about the new grant approved by the Ministry of Culture for the construction of the new website of the Association.
Also participating in the event were: The Historical Revival Battalion "Panagiotis Karatzas" with the extensive and live presentation of the equipment and costume of the fighter of 1821 by its Members.
The "Folklore Dance Group of Patras", where with its very representative dance groups, presented us dances from the Peloponnese.
The Association would like to thank: The Hellenic Police, the Fire Brigade, the Forestry Department, for their participation in the realization of the Event, The local media for their cooperation, for the promotion of its events.
