6th Cultural Event at the picturesque chapel of Agios Athanasios The Cultural & Environmental Association of Drosia Tritaia "GIANNIADES" organized with great success on Saturday 08 June 2024, the 6th Cultural Event at the picturesque church of "Agios Athanasios" located on the green slope of the mountain range of the mountain range of Erymanthos where the view is panoramic with many fellow villagers Municipal Councilors and visitors of our village.

Saturday morning was very cool, and the aroma of the hundreds of flowering crops on the mountainside was idyllic.

The Divine Liturgy in the picturesque chapel was celebrated by the vicar of our village, Father Christos

The event was attended by the Municipality of Erymanthos: the President of the Board of Directors Mr. Nikolaos Martzaklis, the Boards Mr. Ilias Papagiannopoulos & Panagiotis Zacharopoulos from the local community, the President Mr. Zorlas Dimitrios and Konstantinos Kanellakopoulos, several fellow villagers, visitors of the village & Members of the Association.

After the end of the "Divine Liturgy", the Artoklasia & the greetings from the guests, the marking of the Perennial Holly that has grown behind the Sanctuary of the Temple, with a perimeter of 3.80 and a height of over twenty meters, took place.

With this marking, the perennial Pournari is included in the seventy-two (72) trees of the Peloponnese related to the Revolution of 1821, recorded and marked by the Institute of Culture of Messinia.

Based on the testimonies of the elderly residents of the village, in this Pournari the fighter "GIANNIAS" stopped for rest before climbing the 1st ridge (altitude 1030 meters), to reach "Pilalistra", a place where he trained his lads. Also in the same Pournari stopped for rest and the "Old Man of Democracy" since at a distance of 100 meters, there was the old Primary School of the village, (today it is in the form of a ruin), where he studied for two years.

All attendees were offered Treats, Wine, sweets. The Association thanked everyone who attended the event and invited them to the next Cultural Central Event for the fighters "GIANNIADES" that will take place at the Village Square on Saturday 06 July 2024 at 08.00 in the evening, in Co-organization with the Region of Western Greece. Greece and the Municipality of Erymanthos. The Association would like to thank the local media for their cooperation, for the promotion of its events.
