The plane tree of Giannias revives in the Greek Revolution Park

Press Release of the Municipality of Erymanthos The Municipality of Erymanthos at the Greek Revolution Park The inauguration ceremony of the first emblematic Park of the Greek Revolution, in the settlement of Kato Ampelokipi of the Municipality of Pylos Nestor, was attended by the Mayor of Erymanthos, Theodoros Baris and the president of the Cultural and Environmental Association of Drosia Tritaia Erymanthos, "THE GIANNIADES" Vasilis Dimitropoulos.

The Park is the culmination of the anniversary research program "Network of Ancient Trees of the Greek Revolution" with the assistance of 20 historical municipalities of the Peloponnese, including the Municipality of Erymanthos. The inauguration took place on the occasion of the anniversary of the Battle of Kato Minagion (March 3, 1825), in the presence of representatives of Municipalities and institutions.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Mayor and Mr. Dimitropoulos planted a plane tree, a symbol of the history of the place and one of the "Trees of Freedom" of the Peloponnese, as a memory of the imperious plane tree in Drosia Tritaia, which is inextricably linked to the local heroes "Giannis and George Giannias".

"We proudly welcomed the creation of the 1st Greek Revolution Park in Greece. With deep gratitude, but also responsibility towards every historical moment of our people, the Park highlights a "part" of history and our own land and the glorious Captains of '21 whose actions and achievements were linked to legends and traditions, preserving their memory over the centuries", said the Mayor of Erymanthos, Theo Baris.
