Unknown aspects of the action of Gianniades, the legendary heroes of Erymanthos, in the pre-revolutionary events of '21 were "illuminated" during the event entitled "The contribution of Gianniades to the Revolution of 1821" co-organized last Saturday in Drosia Tritaia, by the Municipality of Erymanthos, the Cultural and Environmental Association "Gianniades" and the Community of Drosia with the support of the Region of Western Greece. The event, which was attended by, among others, the Deputy Regional Governor of Achaia, Charalambos Bonanos and the Deputy Regional Governor of Economic Policy and Financial Control, Andreas Filias, the Mayor of Erymanthos, Thodoros
Baris congratulated the Cultural and Environmental Association "Gianniades" for its tireless efforts highlighting the history of our country and especially the president, Vasilios Dimitropoulos and the secretary, Dimitris Dimitropoulos, the Community of Drosia and the president Dimitris Zorlas for their cooperation and assistance and the Region of Western Greece for its practical support.
"The Revolution of '21 is an example that every single battle is won only if we are all together and united. Among the heroes, our country highlighted the legendary Gianniades whose sacrifice inspires and guides our actions 201 years later. For our society and our country." Furthermore, Mr. Baris warmly thanked all participants. The keynote speaker at the event was the folklorist, Elias Toutounis, who referred to the life and activity of the people of Gianniades, while the presence of the choir of the Association of Lefkadians of Patras "Faneromeni" with the serenaders Santa Maura, the members of the Cultural and Dance Association of Tritaia who presented traditional dances, as well as the Folklore Dance Club of Patras was special. At the end of the event, honorary distinctions were awarded to people who contributed to the country. Specifically, the late Nikos Massaras, son of Chrysanthos, were honored with the plaque being received by his daughter, and Vasilios Papadimitropoulos, who during his days, as Commissioner of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, renovated the church and other chapels in the area.
